1st class reflection

I felt that this first class along with the 1st online session has been very informative. I enjoyed reading the book and learned a lot of new and interesting facts that I had never even thought about! I also enjoyed leaning about the aggregator and google reader. I had always wondered what that little orange button was in the address bar was and now I know. And know what to do with it :)

I am still a little concerned about how this will fit in with my math curriculum but I am also excited to learn about new methods of making my classroom more student centered around technology. We will soon see! Can't wait.

I am in agreement about the uncertainty of how to use these tools in our classrooms. With first graders, it is hard to get them into a daily routine, let alone web 2.0 tools!

Jess, what grade levels do you teach? Last year, I worked with a professor who was converting his Engineering Analysis class from a face to face into an online class. In my research, I found some forums (social networks) dedicated to math. I am including in this post a link to an example math discussion forum. The forum is for higher ed students - (I recognize the challenge is greater the younger the student) but perhaps it may help with some ideas.
